Referendum Information Meeting Wednesday February 19

The District is hosting the first of two referendum information meetings on Wednesday, February 19 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Canton Town Hall, 107 North Ash Street, Canton.

Please join us to learn more about the proposed $8.94 million bond referendum to be held on April 8.

 



The Mabel-Canton School District will ask voters to consider an $8.94 million bond referendum on April 8, 2025.

Add Air Conditioning to High School Gym + Remainder of School

  • Eliminate damage to gym floor due to ongoing condensation
  • Improve comfort and floor safety

Build a New Career and Technical Education (CTE) Area (Shop)

  • Increase space for new equipment and job-like experiences
  • Better prepare students for high-demand jobs in the trades
  • Ensure access for students with mobility issues

Renovate Identified Classrooms

  • Add air conditioning
  • Update finishes (floor, cabinets, paint, and lighting)

Expand the School Lobby

  • Provide a safe, indoor gathering space for students and the community at events and competitions

Replace Roof Sections + Repair Tuckpointing

  • Complete needed masonry updates to protect building
  • Address water infiltration by repairing tuckpointing
  • Replace 2 roof sections

Update Locker Rooms

  • Replace 50+ year old plumbing fixtures and finishes
  • Address Americans with Disabilities (ADA) requirements






































































BALLOT QUESTION:

Shall the School Board of Independent School District No. 238 (Mabel-Canton Public School) be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $8,940,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the renovation and improvements; the construction and installation of improvements to mechanical and HVAC systems; remodeling and updates to classroom spaces?
