10th Grade Health

1. Choosing Wellness
1a. Review basic introduction to health problem solve numerous times using 1b. The student will learn the scientific method and take part in a wide variety of activities in the rational steps in decision making.
1c. The student will learn the steps in basic personal care.

2. Review the Body Systems (e.g., circulatory, skeletal, ...)
2a. The student will review the skeletal, muscular, digestive, excretory, circulatory, respiratory, lymphatic, nervous, and reproductive systems.
2b. The student will be presented with numerous opportunities to present or teach the above (2a) materials.

3. Understanding mental illness
3a. Student will discuss the definition of Stress.
3b. Student will discuss how Stress affects your body.
3c. Student will discuss Suicide and treating a variety of mental disorders.

4. Developing Relationships
4a. Student will discuss self in the development of relationships.
4b. Student will discuss communication in relationships.
4c. Student will discuss friendships and intimate relationships.

5. Marriage and Family
5a. Student will discuss the “readiness” for marriage.
5b. Student will discuss a variety of aspects in becoming a family, common stresses, and keeping a family healthy.

6. The Human Life Cycle
6a. The student will review a number of physical aspects of reproduction and heredity.
6b. Students will discuss birth an parenthood. Topics discussed: the decision to have children, conception and pregnancy, birth and infancy through childhood.
6c. Students will review the vast number of changes occurring during the Adolescent years.
6d. Students will discuss adulthood, aging and death.

7. Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco
7a. Students will discuss drug use and abuse.
7b. Students will discuss a wide variety of aspects of alcohol.
7c. Students will discuss Tobacco and their health.



8. Safety and First Aid
8a. Students will discuss personal safety at home in their community at work and play. Discussions will also include vehicle safety and crime prevention.
8b. Students will review basic first aid measures. We will stress the use of “common sense” in all environments.
