April 20, 2010 The Board of Education of Mabel-Canton School District #238 met in regular session on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room. Members present: Aberg, Adkins, Hall, Kossakowski, Kuhn, Swenson and Supt. Moriarty Also present: Sally Lange, Barb Kerns, Matt Jackson, Jeff Nolte and Chris Hansen The meeting was called to order by Chair Adkins. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Motion by Swenson, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve the agenda. Motion by Hall, second by Kuhn and carried unanimously, to approve the March 16, 2010 minutes with the correction of Caitlyn Hageman in place of Caitlyn Lancaster for visitors. Motion by Kuhn, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve payment of monthly bills. Motion by Kossakowski, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve a Luther College Field Experience Contract for the 2010-2011 school year. Motion by Hall, second by Kossikowski and carried unanimously, to approve the staffing proposal as presented by Supt. Moriarty for the 2010-2011 school year. The teaching staff proposal is for 11.80 FTE’s for elementary and 14.70 FTE’s for high school. Motion by Aberg, second by Swenson and carried unanimously, to approve Chris Hansen, Bev Bakke and Supt. Moriarty to be the designee’s to do public fund transactions as needed with the Canton State Bank. Motion by Kuhn, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve the 2010-2011 Minnesota State High School League Resolution membership. Motion by Swenson, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve an additional $1500 for the 2010 audit done by Smith and Schaeffer due to additional audit work because of the ARRA funds. Supt. Moriarty discussed the first draft of the 2010-2011 budget; presented an energy control project possibility for the gym, computer and office area and informed the board our contracted bus service contract is coming up for renewal. Dave Swenson and Brian Aberg will serve on the transportation committee. Principal Nolte reported the National Honor Society Banquet had been held; the music departments had done an excellent job in contests; we will continue to have our Reading Corp personnel here for the 2010-2011 school year; the schedule for 2010-2011 is nearing completion and congratulations to Penniann Ramirez for winning the Women with Drive recognition from KTTC. The last day of school will have an 11:00 a.m. dismissal with breakfast being served. Motion by Aberg, second by Swenson and carried unanimously, to adjourn. Jane Hall, Clerk |
