The Board of Education of Independent School District #238 met in regular session on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Brian Aberg, Cristal Adkins, Jane Hall, Theresa Kossikowski, Mary Kuhn, Dave Swenson and Supt. Love. Members absent: Troy Soiney Also present: Melissa Vander Plas, Barb Eiken, Becky Selness, Lana Hollar, Doug Wyffels, Steve Salveson, Jason Boynton, Jeff Nolte and Chris Hansen. The meeting was called to order by Chair Adkins. Motion by Kuhn, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve the revised agenda. Barb Eiken and Becky Selness addressed the Board about the possibility of reinstating golf as a sport for the 2009-2010 school year. Motion by Swenson, second by Kossikowski and carried unanimously, to approve the August 18 minutes. Motion by Hall, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve payment of monthly bills. Motion by Aberg, second by Kuhn and carried unanimously, to approve the 2009 audit as presented by Steve Salveson of Smith Schafer & Associates. Motion by Hall, second by Kuhn and carried unanimously, to approve an 18 month contract with Michael Moriarty to provide superintendent services beginning January 1, 2010. Motion by Swenson, second by Kossikowski and carried unanimously, to approve a three day leave without pay request from Tami Nerstad. Motion by Hall, second by Kuhn and carried unanimously, to approve a lane change for Charissa Bates from a BS to a BS+15. Motion by Kuhn, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve a four day leave without pay for Heather Kleiboer. Motion by Hall, second by Swenson and carried unanimously, to approve the maximum amount for the 2009 Payable 2010 Proposed Levy. Supt Love reported on the four day workshop days and the Employee Recognition. Principal Nolte updated the Board on the starting of the 2009-2010 school year, progress of the on-line pay option for hot lunch and that working committees have been started within the building on numerous educational issues.
