The Board of Education of Independent School District #238 met in regular session on Monday, June 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the board room. Members present: Aberg, Adkins, Hall, Kuhn, Laitinen, Swenson and Supt. Love Absent: Soiney The meeting was called to order by Chair Kuhn. Motion by Hall, second by Adkins and carried unanimously, to approve revised agenda. Motion by Laitinen, second by Swenson and carried unanimously, approve the May 20, 2008 minutes. Motion by Adkins, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve payment of monthly bills. Motion by Swenson, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, Motion by Adkins, second by Laitinen and carried unanimously, to approve the bid of $51,000 from Knife River for the parking lot driveway project. Motion by Laitinen, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve a .7 contract for 2008-2009 school year for Elaine Meltzer. Motion by Adkins, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve a 2008-2009 contract for Kelsey Anderson for kindergarten. Motion by Swenson, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve a contract for Michelle Weidemann for .6 business education and .4 technology for the 2008-2009 school year. Motion by Hall, second by Adkins and carried unanimously, to approve a 2008-2009 contract for Doug Wyfels for Athletic Director. Motion by Hall, second by Aberg and carried unanimously, to approve a .8 Spanish contract for Naimeh Simonson for the 2008-2009 school year. Motion by Swenson, second by Adkins and carried unanimously, to approve the 2008-2009 Preliminary Budget. The preliminary budget figures are $3,999,543 for expenditures and $3,771,436 for revenue. Motion by Laitinen, second by Hall and carried unanimously, to approve advertising for bread and milk bakery bids for the 2008-2009 school year. The 2008-2009 Student Handbooks were distributed for review and discussion will be held at the July meeting. Supt. Love updated the Board on staffing for next year, statewide test results will be released within the week and advertising for extra-curricular assignments will be posted.
