Bond Referendum Meeting Minutes

Special Meeting

The Board of Education of Independent School District #238 met on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 6:00 pm in the Media Center at the Mabel-Canton School, Mabel, MN. 

Members Present:  Mark Weidemann, Amber Tripp, Diane Wilder, Dustin Tollefsrud, Jason Marquardt, Gary Kuphal, Also Present:  Michelle Weidemann

The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm.

Chad Pike with Kraus Anderson, Kevin Bills with ISG, and Jodie Zesbaugh with Ehlers we reintroduced.

Gary informed the public that Mabel-Canton School is going out for a $8.94 million bond due to a variety of reasons, including projects from the last bond referendum not getting completed because of price increases due to COVID.   

Survey results of projects and what the community would support were shared.  

ISG addressed the public on the building plan.  

Gary broke down the cost of construction.  

Ehlers explained the tax impact.    

Gary explained the open meeting law to the public.  

Motion by Jason Marquardt to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Diane Wilder.  Motion carried.
